Wellbriety Talking Circle

January 28 @ 6:00 pm

What is Wellbriety?

The Wellbriety Movement began in the early to mid-1990s as a support system by combining the Alcoholics Anonymous 12 Step program with Medicine Wheel Teachings This approach uses any or all the various local tribal traditions in meetings and Talking Circles.

The term Wellbriety stands for being Well in Sobriety. Substances are referred to as “Mind Changers.” The quote from the introduction of the book The Red Road to Wellbriety states,

“Here the destruction stops,

We will heal ourselves,

We will heal our wounded relationships,

We will heal our children,

We will heal our Nations,

On this day, our future history begins.”

The Program now includes recovery from drugs as well as alcohol.

Little River Band of Ottawa Indians Be Da Bin Behavioral Health will begin offering Support/Education Wellbriety Talking Circles at Aki Maadiziwin Community Center on Tuesdays at 6:00 pm beginning January 7th, 2020. All are Welcome.
