Wildlife Division

Mission

The Wildlife Division of the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians Natural Resources Department manages for the health and sustainability of animal and plant populations native to the 1836 Ceded Territory in a way that respects the traditional relationships between Tribal Members and native ecosystems of which we are a part and facilitates the exercise of treaty-affirmed hunting, trapping, and gathering rights. The scope of our work includes birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates, and plants. We achieve our goals through the facilitation of sustainable harvest and gathering, biological assessments, inter-governmental collaboration, education/outreach, quantitative research, restoration, and habitat management.
