LRBOI Receiving 400,000 Arctic Grayling Eggs

The Michigan Arctic Grayling Initiative's (a partnership between the Little River band of Ottawa Indians and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, and many supporting partners) effort to reintroduce Arctic grayling to Michigan waters will enter its next phase with a ceremony on Monday, May 12, 2025, 1:00pm, at the Oden State Fish Hatchery Visitor Center in Alanson, Michigan.

At this event, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources will provide the initial grayling eggs (up to approximately 400,000 in total) to the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians, the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians and the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians. We will be reintroducing the eggs at locations along the North Branch of the Manistee River (LRBOI), the Maple River (LTBB) and the Boardman-Ottaway River (GTB).
